William “Bill” Maher (born January 20, 1956) is a television host, comedian, and political commentator. He graduated from Pascack Hills High School, in Montvale, NJ, in 1974, where he was Business Manager for the school newspaper. Maher started off as a stand-up comedian and actor, appearing in a variety of television shows and movies throughout the ‘80s and early ‘90s. In 1993, he began hosting the late-night political talk show Politically Incorrect, which moved from Comedy Central to ABC and stayed on the air until 2002. The following year, Maher began hosting Real Time with Bill Maher, a political comedy talk show for which he is also co-producer and co-writer. He also makes frequent appearances as a political commentator on other cable news programs, including The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Hardball with Chris Matthews. In 2008, Maher teamed up with Larry Charles to make the 2008 documentary film Religulous. He currently holds the record for the most Emmy nominations (22) without a win.
