We were on a nostalgia fix and decided to go through celebrity yearbook photos from our archives, and we found some fun ones of the top musicians throughout the decades. Here are their photos as well as the Classmates Spotify playlist featuring their most well-known songs!

Billy Joel

Check out this photo! Here’s the future “Piano Man” Billy Joel on the chorale team in 1967 at Hicksville High School in New York.

Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel

These two would become the famous duo Simon and Garfunkel whose folk music was celebrated throughout the ‘60s. They met in 1953 when they were both cast in the school play. Here are both of them in their senior yearbook photos at Forest Hills High School, Art Garfunkel on the left and Paul Simon on the right.

Tom Petty

Do you recognize this Gainesville High School Senior? That’s the late Tom Petty in 1968, almost a decade before he went on to form Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Steven Tyler

This Sophomore at Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, New York became the lead singer of Aerosmith. Yup, these pictures are of Steven Tyler!

The Carpenters

Brother and sister Richard and Karen Carpenter had a string of popular hits in the 1970’s as The Carpenters before Karen sadly passed away in 1983. Here she is in 1967 at Downey High School in California, and here’s Richard at the same school in 1964.

Jon Bon Jovi

Born Joseph Francis Bongiovi Jr, Jon Bon Jovi spent two years at St. Joseph’s High School (his freshman photo is on the right) before transferring to Sayreville War Memorial High School, where he graduated in 1980 (his senior photo is on the left).

Stevie Nicks

Before Stephanie “Stevie” Nicks found fame in the band Fleetwood Mac, she attended Menlo-Atherton High School in Atherton, California and participated in drama. Here she is as a senior in 1966.

Neil Diamond was on the fencing team at Abraham Lincoln High School. He thought he wanted to be a biologist until a music publishing company offered him a writing contract. Here’s his senior yearbook photo as well as proof of his fencing skills.

Lionel Richie

Lionel Brockman Richie Junior (AKA Lionel Richie), attended Joliet East High School, where he graduated in 1967. He also played tennis as a junior, as evidenced in this school photo.
