Classmates Launches Workplace Directory to Reconnect Co-workers and Friends

Online community provides opportunity for professional and personal networking

RENTON, WA - Apr 16, 2002 - Classmates Online, Inc., a personal networking service connecting friends, family, military and work colleagues, today launched its Workplace directory, allowing people to find and network with former co-workers from over 1 million companies across North America.

According to 2001 survey conducted jointly by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Careerjournal.com, networking is the number one way to find jobs or employees. With the recent surge in layoffs, constantly changing email addresses, and lost business cards, Classmates Workplace enables people to connect with career opportunities that might otherwise have gone undiscovered.

Unlike typical corporate alumni sites that only allow users to affiliate with a single organization, Classmates Workplace allows members to list themselves under multiple places of employment providing a greater opportunity to connect with business associates. Members can find former co-workers by their first & last name during employment, company, location, and job description/department. Additionally, members can add a company to the Workplace directory.
