Amy's Story

Life You most likely remember me as the girl who got the proverbial "BOOT" the beginning of JR. yr. That unexpected detour to my very ordinary life has been a real blessing. I began traveling around Asia, Norway, and North America. I lived in Alaska for a couple years. When I dream now of home I dream of my life there in Homer and mostly on Prince of Wales. My precious cabin on the water, my garden the beaver pond. My wined-up radio, kerosene lamps, suana and water collection system. It was magic...but not everything I needed from life, so I moved to Hawaii. As a massage therapist living in "timber and fishing" country it is tough to get enough work...nursing, seemed the perfect compliment. I am currently in the program here... and mulling over my role in the health care system I find so faulted. As for love, I was lucky enough to have met Tim. An awesome lad I quite fancy. We are now married. As for assests I have only a hand made skin on frame Aleutian kayak, my cast iron skillets and my bicycle. Not to belittle my heart filled with wonderful memories. The stacks of photos and water color paintings of the places that have meant so much and the people who have helped me learn and love more fully during this wonderful journey of life. Lots of love to you all. .'. PS. now in South Caroina....getting used to the southern drawl, grits and my new home...looking forward to my RN, and moving to Maryland. College Not so much to add delightful stories, but to recount how many years it is taking me to get through...especially when I am climbing an up hill battle... not embracing the liberal...Expand for more
artist in me... be striving for the professional degree. ouch, but it sure feels good to get that much closer each semester. Workplace Massage has been the best choice of careers. I get to touch such a variety of people, and hear all about their snapshots of life. It has enabled me to live the life I have had... and now I am broadening my skills to include nursing...to touch people who otherwise wouldn't be touched... or at least not lovingly. While school has never been my strongest attribute in life, I have grown fond of my personnal gifts....art is a huge part of my being...be it to create the works... or be the inspiration for them...It turns out I am one heck of a model for figure drawing. I have been blessed with handfuls of one of a kind artworks, with my beautiful curvy body as the subject, and it has empowered me to love me....every dimple and crease! To anyone hesitant about their body....stand naked in front of an artist and be ready to be amazed at how truely amazing this shell is, when rendered through their eyes. I have had short jaunts at being a cook, firstmate and deckhand on a boat. I have worked fish processing, and scraped the insides out of sea cucumbers....I have taken care of home bound patients, and taught massage. I love teaching, and touching, and creating beauty. Mostly though, I love being a wife, and exploring places with my honey. I look forward to moving to new places, and having kids, creating a job that will let all my gifts flow freely from me.. instead of binding me into a painful box. I hope you all are in love with your lives....Just as I am blessed to be.'.
