Michael's Story

Life Schoolastically, I pursued a Ph. D. in Analytical Chemistry and I am employed in the chemical industry during the week. Sportswise, I pursued skydiving with a passion second to very few and I am the co-author of the leading introductory text in the sport: "Parachuting, The Skydiver's Handbook." Since the 7th edition and the CD-ROM, my name has been on the cover with the original author's (Dan Poynter). I am an instructor examiner in the sport and I have over 3,400 jumps. I am also a licensed commercially rated pilot with over 2000 hours of logged time. In the past ten years, I have been an active member of the Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary) Houston Hobby Senior Squadron (TX-451) and as of 8/06, I was the squadron's commander. I stepped down from that postion to the Deputy Commander's spot so that I could take on the new role of Director of Safety for the Texas Wing of the CAP. There are a lot of things to do with what little spare time I have, and I relish the days when I get to do absolutely nothing because they are so few and far between. School Being a straight geek in HS was a tough thing to do, especially since I was a small guy (but my current shoulder size and strength would have discouraged the bullies that I was tortured by back then). Alas, I'm still very much of a hard-nosed, by the book type guy who still believes in the right and wrong of things. I've pursued my car...Expand for more
rer in analytical chemistry but I got into a far more interesting avocation of skydiving in which I was an instructor examiner for many years and co-author of the leading introductory text into the sport, "Parachuting, The Skydiver's Handbook." This book is currently in its 10th edition. I am also a commercial pilot, single and multi-engine land (with a second in command rating in a DC-3) with an instrument flight rules rating. I have been married 32+ years to Lucy and have one 26+ year old daughter (Gloria). I enjoy revisiting with people from the past but alas, too many are not to be found for one reason or another. Now, as I am now 62, I find that so many have already passed on and I regret that I missed the opportunity to have said hello to them one more time. College At Fairleigh Dickinson U, Rutherford, I did a lot of growing up. I basically made my own way as of year #3 and pushed hard on into graduate school. I started at Emory U in Atlanta but my major prof didn't get tenure there, so the group moved with him to the U of Houston where I sweated out another 4.5 years on my attempt at obtaining my Ph.D. Alas, my memory capacity didn't keep up with the needs and I found something far more interesting to pursue than the degree, so I took an MS and fulfilled my needs to teach with Skydiving. Of course, I met the love of my life in graduate school and I've been married to her since 1981.

This person claimed to be an attorney representing William Jane Zainab and it turns out that he is also a fraud. The license is also a phony.
Mary Ann Rossi found this picture of me from my early jumping days. I must have been in my late 20's. I'm 70 now!

My Lucy bought this kit for our cats to be set outside in. It took us a few hours to assemble it but it went together nicely.
