Life Schoolastically, I pursued a Ph. D. in Analytical Chemistry and I am employed in the chemical industry during the week. Sportswise, I pursued skydiving with a passion second to very few and I am the co-author of the leading introductory text in the sport: "Parachuting, The Skydiver's Handbook." Since the 7th edition and the CD-ROM, my name has been on the cover with the original author's (Dan Poynter). I am an instructor examiner in the sport and I have over 3,400 jumps. I am also a licensed commercially rated pilot with over 2000 hours of logged time. In the past ten years, I have been an active member of the Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary) Houston Hobby Senior Squadron (TX-451) and as of 8/06, I was the squadron's commander. I stepped down from that postion to the Deputy Commander's spot so that I could take on the new role of Director of Safety for the Texas Wing of the CAP. There are a lot of things to do with what little spare time I have, and I relish the days when I get to do absolutely nothing because they are so few and far between. School Being a straight geek in HS was a tough thing to do, especially since I was a small guy (but my current shoulder size and strength would have discouraged the bullies that I was tortured by back then).
