Daryl's Story
Life
After graduation in 1973 I went to ISU and majored in music playing the cello. After a year I decided to go to IU and study music with David Baker playing jazz piano. Then I moved to Indianapolis and played with a band for about 6mths. I then joined a band and toured all over the US for a couple of years. I ended up in L.A. where I lived for 2 years performing in night clubs around the L.A. area. On one of my flights to a concert I met a lady who was a flight attendant and ended up marrying her and moved to Seattle WA which is where her family lived. We were married for 24 years and raised two beautiful daughters. In 1996 I went back to school and got a degree in computer information systems. cided to part ways and I moved back to Indianapolis. The last couple of years I have been performing most of the time but still have my Consulting business and find myself keeping very busy. I released a CD last sumer with my sister Cathy Morris and continue to perform regularly with her in a 4 peice New Age Jazz group, as duo with her and as a solo jazz piano player. I perform at concerts, festivals, jazz clubs and corporate events. I just returned from L.A. where I played for a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton. Life for me now is extremely busy but I love every second of it. I am very happy to get back to my "roots" and look forward to getting reaquainted with old friends. Hopefully there will be another Class Reunion for the Class of 1973 because living in Indy will allow me to attend which I have not been able to do in the past.
