George's Story
Life
After graduation I went to UT. I graduated UT with a BA in Communications and a commision in the United States Army. I was branched Field Artillery. I went to Ft. Sill, OK, then on to Ft. Wainwright Alaska. While in Alaska I served in the 4th Battalion 11th Field Artillery. I have been a Fire Support Officer for the 2nd Battalion 1st Infantry, 1st Battalion 17th Infantry, and E-Troop 1th Cav,a Fire Direction Officer in Bravo Battery 4-11 FA and a targeting officer. I was promoted to Captain and left Alaska for Ft. Sill Oklahoma. In oklahoma I attended the Captains Carrer Course and them up to Ft. Leavanworth , KS for the Combined Arms Service and Staff school. Upon completing of my schooling I was assigned to the 3rd Battalion 13th Field Artillery (MLRS) here at Ft. Sill. While at Ft. Sill I managed to earn a Masters degree in Management from Webster University. Since I have been at Ft. Sill I have served as an AS3(Battalion Operations Officer) and currently I am the commander of Heaquarters Battery 3-13FA. I have been on a multitude of deploy...Expand for more
ments and schools, too many to list here. I am married and have 2 wonderfull boys, William (4) and Jonathan (2) I continue to teach martial arts in the local community. Currently (today is 18DEC05) I am Deployed to Iraq. I have been here 11 months now and look forward to our return in Jan 06. Soon aftr my re-deployment I will move to Ft. Stewart GA for my next assignment.
(Added 21 AUG 06) -Prior to returning from Iraq I changed command and became the Battalion Operations Officer (S3) at the TOC (Tactacal Operations Center) to allow the normal S3 to move to the COP (Combat Out Post). I returned from Iraq in January 06 and moved to my next assignment at Ft. Stewart, GA. I was assigned to the 2nd Battalion 306th FA as the Brigade Fire Support and Effects Based Operations Trainer, with the additional duties of: Battalion S2 (Intelligence Officer), HHB OIC, and the BDE Counterinsurgency Trainer. In July (06) I returned to Iraq as part of a Counterinsurgency training program. Currently I'm still in Iraq, but will be returning home in a week or so.
