Richard's Story

Life B.A.,M.A.,Drake University;B.D.,U of Chicago; Ph.D., South Dakota State Univ. College professor;Elected House of Representatives (S.D.) 1972;1974. Research Director, Boston College; CEO, electronic manufacturing company, Boston, MA. Sold my company in 2002. We were making door-lock security systems that were being installed in Rockefeller Center when 9-11 took place. Afterward orders skyrocketed and I was approached with a buy out offer. I took it and was sitting in my home (alone) in Nashua, New Hampshire. Working on a class reunion and calling old classmates, I called Carole Salczynski whom I had met in 4th grade (Edison). She was living in Miller and when I returned to NW Indiana to visit my parents we met for dinner. Next visit, lunch. at time, neither of us wanted it to end. Forty-five days later we were married and I sold my home in New England and we bought a home in Miller Beach, two blocks south of Lake Michigan. We ended up purchasing the ownership of one of the products my company was manufacturing, Hokey Spokes. We bought the patent, the software, the inventory, the trademark, etc., etc., etc. and now operate the company out of Gary, Indiana ( visit: hokeyspokes.com ) We have an international market with dealers on every continent and just returned from our second trip to China. So life has been good and we are very happy. The photo on file is one of me and Archbishop Alfred C. Hughes of New Orleans. We discovered the "look alike" feature with the Bishop when Carole and I went to New Orleans as volunteers to work on homes in the 9th Ward devastated by the hurricane.
