Michael's Story
Life
After graduating from Benedictine in 1985, I enrolled at Armstrong State College in Savannah. I graduated from ASC in December 1989 with a BA in English/Communications. Through my involvement in various student clubs and organizations at Armstrong, I decided to get a Master's degree in Education that would allow me to work in a college or university setting. Enrolled at the University of South Carolina in January 1990, I graduated in May 1991 with an MEd in Student Personnel Services. Between 1991 and 2003, I worked in higher education student services at various schools including Belmont Abbey and Guilford Colleges in North Carolina, Georgia Southern and Radford University in Virginia.
I left higher education in 2003 to join LexisNexis, a research and information company. I moved to Dayton Ohio in January 2003, and live here presently. During graduate school at South Carolina, I met my wife, Sheri. We were married at Trinity Methodist Church downtown in Savannah in May of 1996. (Father Doug Clark was my Catholic contact/witness/liason, or whatever you want to call it during our ceremony!) The rehearsal dinner was a great low-country boil at my grandparents' home on Tybee. The reception was at the DeSoto Hilton, the top floor. (I can't even remember the name of the room!) We honeymooned in San Francisco, and returned back to Georgia - Statesboro, to be specific - where we lived from 1996-2000.
Sheri and I have 3 daughters - Hannah, 9; Madeline, 6; and Rachel, 3 years - and 1 son - Sam, 2 years old. We live in Dayton, Ohio. Sheri's a stay-at-home mom, and loves it, most of the time, at least! We love the seasons we get here and the ones we got in Virginia, but I truly miss the beach, friends and family that are all still down in Savannah!
