Kathy's Story
Life
Let's see, where do I begin...After EDHS, went to American River College, graduating w/ AA degree in 1983. Parents divorced in 1979, went to live w/father and his new wife, did not last long, was kicked out of house in fall of 1983, landed in Los Angeles at mom's house. Worked for Republican Party as fund raiser assistant...
Mom was ill with cancer, so I had to take care of her until she passed away Christmas 1985. Lived w/step-dad until alcohol got the best of him, lived on a sailboat to get away from the alcohol...
That is where I met my soon to be husband...1987, We both worked at Target, in different departments. I was asked to help his department with price changes. He liked me instantly. Our 1st date, Halloween 1987. Met his parents. His mom and I hit it off immediately... 2 Virgos.
Married September 1990, worked at Target until 1995. Had to go back to school to learn computers to get a "9-5 job". Had a great job, but politics and personalities clashed horribly.
When we moved to the beach in 2001, it brought out my arts & crafts... I started knitting and crocheting again. My home based business started from meeting some fellow crafters who told me about local craft shows. I participated in one at a senior center... I found my niche.

heck that covers our rent/expenses. So Cal rentals are horrendously expensive. My small business helps to supplement his income.
No kids, but there are always a cat or 2 in our household. Right now we have Gizmo the gray cat, and Lucy the black kitten. She was rescued and I adopted her from a family who saved her. and her siblings.
I am a breast cancer survivor, 2 years now... I was diagnosed November 2019, at the height of covid. Hubby brought covid home, Christmas for us was spending it in the hospital in different wings. When I finally was well, in late January 2020, I met my surgeon. She worked quickly.... My cancers (invasive and noninvasive) were aggressive. After having the surgery to on Feb 1st 2020, reconstruction was done 2 weeks later., Happy Valentines Day to me.. more cancer cells were found outside the original location... mastectomy was in the works. I told my surgeon I needed 'A TIME OUT'. I needed to decompress and just rest for a month. April 6th 2020 I had a mastectomy on my right breast. In hindsight, I should have had a double mastectomy.... but like I said, I was dealing with both covid and cancer and I just wanted to relax. I am healthy now,
We still live in Redondo, 22 years now... longest residence for us. We plan to retire in the next 5 years, but we will not live in So Cal... way too expensive.
