Sharon Layman's Story
Life
My husband (John) and I are very involved with the traditional music world, especially hammered dulcimers. We live in rural Saginaw county on a small lake off M-52. I worked for Dow for 12 years, S.V.S.U. for a couple of years, and for the last 23+ years of my career for St. Mary's Medical Center. I retired in 2004. We have a very humble place in the Upper Peninsula on Lake Michigan. You might find us "performing" at a folk music venue. Two grown children in California and two grandkids. In 2008, after caring for my mother in Florida for four years, she passed away. We had made friends loved the community, so we bought a Florida home in Sun City Center, 25 miles south and east of Tampa. We now spend about 7 months in Florida and 5 in Michigan. We love our Florida community. The folks are friendly and there's so much to do. Life is great!

My husband was diagnosed with a serious lung condition a few years ago, but he's beating the odds and we're cherishing life and activities even more than before. Hopefully he'll continue to stay well. Life is easy in Florida, so I'm sure that we'll spend more and more time in the Sunshine State. I'm now an official "resident" of Florida.
