Rhonda's Story
Life
From high school on, I went to college beginning at the Univ. of Evansville, Evansville, In., and complete two years of college. I then married a military officer and started moving all over the world. Our first assignment was where I graduated from college. It was in Grand Forks, ND. I complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at the University of North Dakota. Being military now, we moved every two or so years. Many of the places we lived at first were temporary because of training. We went to Lubbock, Tx., and Tucson, Az. during this time. Our first permanent station was in Myrtle Beach, SC. This is where my first daughter, Amanda was born in 1982. From there we went to Alamogordo, NM. There my second daughter, Sarah, was born in 1984. In 1986-1989, I spent those years in Ramstein, Germany near Frankfort. We then moved in 1989-90 to Hampton, Va. and that is when I decided to work in real estate for Century 21. With a new station in Misawa, Japan in 1993, I moved once again. From there, our family went in different directions and I found myself back in Newport News, Va., in 1994 and starting again. My divorce was final in 1997. I worked for a while and then decided
to go back to school. At first I completed a 2 year program in x-ray technology. Then I decided to become a radiation therapist. I worked for Riverside Regional Medical Center in the Physicians Center in Williamsburg, Va., for a year. My youngest daughter then got accepted to a college in Norfolk, Va. I was also hired to work in Norfolk at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and com...Expand for more
pleted a two year contract for them as well working with cancer patients delivering radiation on a linear accelerator for cure. At the same time, my father was diagnosed with cancer which had been a long term disease but misdiagnosed as an ulcer. After I had worked for almost two years in Norfolk, my father passed away with stomach cancer. At that time, I decided to leave this area of work because of the emotional distress with my father's death. I then went back into management for a ladies line of clothing which became my favorite store. It was Christopher and Banks based in Xenium, MD. I worked at a local store in Chesapeake near my home for over 2 1/2 years. In June of 2007, I remarried and decided to take some time off combining two homes and selling my husband's home in Norfolk. We now live in the home I owned in Virginia Beach, Va. I have recently taken a job with bds marketing/channel partners, a company based out of Ervine, CA. I am a vendor for many companies, but work especially with electronics and apparel. My youngest daughter has graduated from ODU in Norfolk with a double major in Nuclear medicine and Psychology. My older daughter will graduate in December in Business Management. My husband works for a ship building warehouse after having retired from the navy after 20 years. We currently attend Gateway FW Baptist church in Virginia Beach where we are active members. We enjoy traveling, cooking, sports, and especially family life and live a very active life in this wonderful beach town, which also happens to be one of the fifth busiest traffic cities in the US.
