Karen's Story

Life After graduating from North High School in 1959, I worked at the Omaha Chamber of Commerce. I vacationed in Minneapolis, Mn. and met Duane, who I married in July, 1960. I did governmental accounting for 23 years & lived in Cambridge, Mn. until Duane's death in 1996. I moved to a suburb of Minneapolis and worked at Carlson Companies (CMG Travel) until retirement. I currently live in a suburb of Dallas, Tx. I have two wonderful children, Shelly and Shannon, four grandchildren and four grandogs :). I enjoy traveling, making new friends, music and dancing. The past is history and life is good. I've learned to put my Faith in Him and enjoy the journey! I hope to get in touch with some friends from many years ago. I did go back to North for a little tour a few years ago. It did remind me that 'you can never really go back'. But, NHS and Omaha will forever hold a special place in my heart. Would like to hear from some of my school friends. ~carpe diem! Story Wizard: I hope old friends remember me as a kind and smiling good friend. I don't relax easily. I tend to work off my frustrations and worries by cleaning, flower gardening and walking followed by a hot bubble bath and glass of wine! If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have my home in order, a good cup of coffee, and an agenda to be able to deal with the day-to-day. If I could improve my home, I'd ...Expand for more
remodel completely and add on a 3rd floor of all windows for painting.. My dream home would be a 2 or 3 story brick home with beautiful ocean view and beach nearby.. I've learned how important my relationship is with my kids and how very important it is to have faith in them and to respect their privacy as responsible and wonderful adults. If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to organizations I support, then spend the rest on family, surprise a few individuals and build my dream home.. My current age is 68. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be relaxing and traveling with few cares. I was so completely wrong, because how your life has been lived will have a lot to do with the outcome in later years.. My first REAL crush was in my junior year of high school. Unfortunately, he was not as loyal to me as I thought. I have no idea what ever happened to him. My best friend would tell you I'm very empathetic and very private, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as aloof or austere.. I believe in 'change'! Love watching the styles but do tend to stay with more classic style. The weirdest job I've had was climbing a forest fire tower. I'll always remember the fun we had at 'Playland' in Council Bluffs, the 'Community Sing' on Sunday nights at Carter Lake, Reeds Ice Cream............too many memories to only share one!
