Gerald's Story

I retired from the Air Force in 1974 at Little Rock A.F.B. Jacksonville Ark. My communities are some what incorrect as it shows Little Rock A.F.B. from 54 -74, this is the total time in the U.S.A.F. The entry 72-74 is correct for my assighnment at Little Rock A.F.B. where I trained C-130 Flight Engineers until my retirement in Sept 74. I was employed in Little Rock by Gestetner Corp. During this time I met Linda my Spouse. I met her At a small supper club in Little Rock Arkansas, where I asked her to dance with me. We ended up dancing right up the wedding isle. My Pet is a Schnauzer dog. His name is Pal. He thinks he is the head of the house. My Military career began in 1954 from that time I had world wide assignments and duty stations much too numerous to recount. All very memorable however. I began my career as an aircraft mechanic in 1954. I worked on 1 and 2 engine recip prop driven aircraft then moved up to 4 engine recip prop driven KC-97 Fuel tankers, then on to 6 engine jet B-47 bombers , Then on to Lockheed Hercules C-130s Jet Turbo Prop driven where I advanced in my career field to Maintainence Crew Chief. Later I was able to upgrade and train as a Flight Engineer . Now I had a seat on the Flight deck between the Pilot and Copilot. My office in the sky (I loved it). I advanced to senior air crew member during that time, logging several thousand hours of flight time. I recieved The Air medal with 3 Oak leaf clusters, the Outstanding Unit Citation and the Presidental Unit Citation. The Distinguished Flying Cross. Also several other medals and awards during my military and flight career. I flew the Lockheed...Expand for more
C-130 Hercules 4 engine turbo prop aircraft in several peace time and combat configurations such as combat Cargo transport, airial delivery of troops and equipment, Combat Talon Special Operations 1st Air commando wing in Viet Nam. Weather Recon Sq. on Guam with the 54Th WRS (Typhoon Chasers) with several credits and air medals for numerous typhoon penatrations. I concluded my career training new C-130 Flight Engineers with the 16Th Tactical Airlift Training Sq. at Little Rock AFB Ar. where I was an Instructor Flight Engineer untill I retired in 1974. I began my second career in sales and service with Gestetner Corp. (Printing Equipment) soon after that I trained in the Securities and Investment banking business where I worked untill I retired from that career in 2000. Now I spend my time in leasure pursuits one of which consists of rideing here and there on my Yahama Majesty 400. I also pursue photography and vidiography to some extent. I enjoy Macro Photography both over land and Underwater . I enjoy off shore Scuba diveing and fishing and since I have a good sized lake for a large part of my back yard I can enjoy fresh water fishing as well any time I take a notion I can have fresh fish for supper. I especially enjoy re establising old friends and school mates, hence my membership with classmates. I would like to hear from any and all classmates who may have known me or friends of mine. Let me hear from anyone whom was a 1950 to 1956 TTHS Grad. Was Or knew a member of the Dwarfs Club circa 51/56. or any of the After school bunch at Marge & Ann's Whistle Stop resturant. Thanks for your ear, Gerald ( Gerry )Paulsen
