Linda's Story
Life
I've been married since 1973 and we have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Newsflash: we got our second granddaughter on 4/9/09. She didn't weigh much at first, but she's turning into a regular butterball. And she LOVES the Giants. It must be in the genes.
So our progeny counts are:
Sharon, 52, 2 boys:Ryan,23 and Matt, 21
Kenneth, 48, 1 boy: Junior, 20
Shannon, 33, 1 boy: Rave, 7 and 2 girls: Sarah, 5, and Sharlinda, 3 months.
Kevin, 20 (my baby)
We don't know about and great grandchildren with Ryan and Matt running lose in SC.
Kevin is my miracle. He was diagnosed VERY early with ADHD and OCD. He also suffered from night terrors. When he was 8 he developed Tourrettes Syndrome. At 15, they said he had Oppositional Defiance Disorder. I just think he was being 15. Luckily, he was blessed with a very good mind. He graduated from Atwater High in 2007 as a co-valedictorian, National Merit scholar, and was awarded the UC Regents Scholarship. A full ride to UC Merced (Yippee!) He plans to become a high school math teacher, return to Atwater High, and torment all his former teachers. It's nice to have goals in life.
I lost Dad in September and Mom in March. My husband, Ray, is the same age as they were, and he has his own health issue...Expand for more
s. I thank God for every day we have together. Of course, he says he's going to dance on my grave. I told him,"Good luck. I'm being buried at sea and you can't swim." That'll teach him.
I am no longer working. It really ticks me off too. I went back to Merced College and got my AA in accounting, graduated with honors, and had my dream job. Then I developed several overlapping bone diseases and then some. So, I am disabled now, but I'm dying to do something. So, it looks like volunteer work for the courts or schools, or maybe being a docent at the Science and Technology Center. Maybe I'll go back to get my bachelors and teach alongside my son. Think he'd be embarrassed to be driven to work every day by his mother?
I'm really sorry I missed the reunion last year, but with Dad dying, I just couldn't work myself up for it. I did hook up with Delphine and James Waldrep (Goodheart). We had a great visit. And I promise not to repeat anything she told me about the reunion...for now anyway. I may need money later.
It's close to the 4th of July and I am hoping to see some very old friends. If you pass by my house, please stop and say "Hi". I might just have a water balloon with your name on it.
Love and God's blessings to all,
Linda
