Mary's Story
Life
Currently I live in the Baltimore area. During my free time, I hang out with my wonderful friends and family. I recently adopted a puppy, a pit/shepherd mix, named Hemi. He's like a little 2 year old, everything goes in the mouth, but I still love him anyway. I recently got married (October 20th, 2007) and we have plans of starting a family in a few years. If you'd like to stay updated, check me out at myspace dot com slash mysteriousartist.
School
Many of you remember me with Barbara at my side. In case you were wondering, yes we are still friends and we will be till the day we die. I even had the luxury of (without intent) introducing her to husband, Jason.
College
Some of you know I started my college career at Salisbury State University as a Biology major. But after 2 years there and a change of major, I transferred to Towson University; where I graduated with honors with a B.A. in Visual Communications with a concentration in Graphic Design in January 2001.
I was attending University of Baltimore to get my Master's in Publications Design and a Certificate in Hypermedia Production (web site design), but have since lost interest. I plan to go back soon. I also have plans to get another Master's in Art Education. I would like to teach art in elementary school one day.
Workplace
Currently I am on active duty orders at Dover Air Force Base. I love being activated! I learn so much and the pay is great! I tried to get orders to the desert, but some medical issues (recov...Expand for more
ering from a car accident) kept me from leaving the country.
When I'm not playing G.I. Jane, I work at the Thomas Kinkade Signature Art Gallery in White Marsh Mall. The pay isn't the best, unless I sell a few paintings, but I love the atmosphere. Hopefully I will get to be the store manager of the new store we plan to open in Annapolis. If not, I can always find a great paying job somewhere, with the government.
Military
Ever since high school, joining the Air Force has been on my mind. I wanted to join right after high school, but my mom insisted I got to college first. During college I thought of joining ROTC, but I was too busy enjoying the whole college experience. It took that fateful September day in 2001 that no one will ever forget to get me into a recruiting office again. Since I was trying to settle into a career, joining the active duty Air Force was not something I was not sure I would be up for. Instead I opted for the MD Air National Guard, as a "box kicker". Basically, if I were in the "civilian sector" my job would be similar to the ones found at the airport, like luggage handling, scanning (security) and customer service/ticket counter. We travel a lot, to lots of great places (ie- Guam, England, Germany, Hawaii, Japan, etc), which is one of the many reasons why I joined in the first place. And of course to help protect and serve my country. God bless all our troops around the world. Especially all my friends that are in the "sand box"! Come home safe you guys! :)
