Annie's Story
Life
Hi, all! What a long strange trip it's been! After spending '69-'72 in the Haight-Ashbury & in commune country,I came back to Tulsa and married Ron Shank (class of 68) in 1974. We've lived in the foothills above Albuquerque, NM since 1992. In May 2001 I got my M.A. at UNM in English Literature (Victorian concentration). Ron is retired now, but played blues for a goodly time in Tulsa clubs;he plays bass now for our church. I'd love to hear from any of the old "Indras" group!
School
I started at Rogers in my junior year after the city changed the school boundaries, having gone to Hale for sophomore year. I didn't fit in all that well, at least until I found the other members of the Lunatic Fringe that came to be known as Indras. College
I got my B.A. in English Language & Literature with a minor in History. I then took five years to achieve a M.A. in English Literature (Victorian Concentration). I really enjoyed the university, and I sometimes think I may have enjoyed it more because I didn't go until I was in my 40's. I learned computers there, and signed up for my first email list (to which I still write), for which I am eternally grateful. I also made several friends, even though my classmates tended to be much younger than I. It was a wonderful time.
Workplace
Braum's was my last job in OK. In between, I worked as a phone solicitor in OK and NM. I also worked as a cook and "ice cream stylist", and as counterperson and resident pool player in 2 different CA places during the 60's. My last job was as President of the grad assoc. at UNM, where I took my degrees.
