Kathleen's Story
Life
My Spouse
I met my future husband, Ray DeYong, at Leo's on Main Street in Hackettstown. We've been married 37 years, it hardly seems possible. He's an over-the-road trucker so we have limited home time together.
My Kids
My daughter Kathleen (Kate) is 35 and lives in Ohio with my two grandsons, Jacob 11 and Davin 8, and my great son-in-law, David Mione, who is full-time US Army Reserves stationed in Mansfield, Ohio. (much closer than Utah, where they had been for the last eight years.)
My daughter Patricia (Patti) is 33 and married to a terrific guy, Karl Andreas, and lives about 15 minutes from us. They have 6 yr. old Emilee and RaeAnna Robin who is 3.
My Job
For nine years I was the secretary to the high school principal in our local school district. How ironic, for someone who hated school as much as I did. Even better is that I started out as the attendance secretary!
Seven years ago I was promoted to become the superintendent's secretary, a job that has been quite challenging. It is a very small school district and our masco...Expand for more

Workplace
Once my children started school I decided to go to work. I worked part-time delivering flowers for Greenway Flowers in Hackettstown. Then I went to the US Postal Service in Hackettstown and was a rural mail carrier until moving to PA in 1987.
My girls were in early adolescence when moving to PA and I was going to be a stay at home Mom.....that got boring after 6 months and I went job hunting. I ended up working as a florist for 3 years. Then I became a secretary for Penn State Cooperative Extension, Bloomsburg, PA for 2 yrs. Then I started working at the high school in Benton, PA where my one daughter was still in school. I continue to work in the district at the administrative office and just completed my 17th year.
My parents are living in Easton as do my sisters Donna, Terri and Patti. Nancy is the only one still in Hackettstown, and Sharon lives in Frenchtown, NJ. Amazingly, we are all still married to our original spouses... lol Life has been good to me; life is good.
