Raymond's Story

Life My Spouse I met Della at a square dance in Danvers, Illinois. I sang a couple of songs with the band, and was fascinated by this beauty dancing to our music. I courted her, and just a couple of months later we were married, and in 2015 we celebrated our 56th anniversary. Our graduating class (1952) is having a joint reunion with 1953 and assorted others this coming weekend. I started working for State Farm in 1953 and retired 44 years later, in 1997. mine since early childhood. I served as president and newsletter editor for the Illinois Country Music Association, Inc. for several years, retiring in 2015, and I have won international awards for bluegrass music from the North American Country Music Associations, Int'l. I still do programs for nursing homes and other senior's groups and still attend jam sessions whenever possible. I am a longtime member of the Cowboy Church band which meets at the First Christian Church in Farmer City every Sunday evening from September through June, with a few Sundays off during the summer.
