Paula's Story
Life
My family returned to Kansas City in August 2001 from nearly ten years of international assignments with SBC, first in Mexico City, Mexico and then in Johannesburg, S. Africa. My husband and I took the early-retirement offers from SBC while living in S. Africa.
Shortly after we returned to the U.S., I started doing volunteer work for Harvesters, our community food bank. I enjoyed the work so much that I applied to be the Volunteer Services Manager in May 2002. I'm still there and very much enjoying the mission of feeding hungry people in our community. I'm presently the Director of Community Outreach at Harvesters. I direct the volunteer program, food/fund drive initiatives and the front desk operation...Expand for more
and have met some wonderful, caring people in our community. I'm also teaching a volunteer management course at William Jewell College this semester.
I have two children, Tracey, 35 and Steven, 22. My stepchildren are Julie, 35 and Bryan, 32. I have three grandkids, Austin, Jackson, and Madison, and three step-grandkids, Josh, Zack and Sydney. We have a dog, a cat and two parrots (all international travelers themselves, with the dog and cat coming from Mexico and the two parrots from S. Africa).
I missed the '94 and '99 class reunions while living overseas, but I enjoyed attending the reunion in '04. I'd enjoy hearing from other '69 Wyandotte classmates! I'd also enjoy hearing from other SBC employees!
