Lorinda's Story

Life Actually, I moved to South Milwaukee WI two weeks before our senior year began - and graduated here (where I met my husband David Flores on the cross country team - although we didn't start dating until 1987). I went to the U of Idaho right after high school graduation and studied Mechanical Engr. I then moved back to Milw my soph yr in college and went to the Milw Inst of Art & Design where I graduated in 1988 w/ a BFA in Design. I have pursued Architectural Lighting Design as my career and LOVE it (math, science, art and architecture rolled into one). I have worked in Wisc mostly. Had a 3-month stint in Panama City, Panama. Also worked for 18 mo. from 2000-2001 at an internationally reknown design st...Expand for more
udio in Manhattan. We moved back to Wisconsin in June of 2001 and I worked downtown Chicago, commuting via a 60-minute Amtrak train ride each way. But after the birth of our first child in March 2002 I decided not to do that anymore. I had a girl who we named Luci. And 16-months later we had another girl who we named Lola. Lola will be 1-year old the end of July 2004. We are debating on a third - but I hesitate since I turn 38 this year... We'll see what happens. I am currently working at a local lighting manufacturer. I work in the marketing department as a lighting design specialist and product line manager and really love it. My husband is a part-time RN and full-time stay-at-home dad. It works out great.
