Beverly's Story
As you see by my graduating in 1948 from Whitman High School, I am an elderly lady. I went to work in the fall of 1948 at the Brockton Office of the Telephone Company which was at the end of School Stree t at that time. I worked there until 1953 when I transferred out to Ventura, California. I met my first husband there and we got married in Las Vegas. He was a motor cycle police officer in Ventura. We then moved to Las Vegas and he became an officer at the Vegas police department. My first child was born there and our friends fro Calif came and called her Nevada Rose. We named her Susan Allyce. We stayed there for another few years and again moved back to Ventura.
I worked at the Port Hueneme C.B Base (Construction Battalion) and then worked at Camarillo State Hospital. I worked at Point Mugu which in the late '40's was the U.S. Naval Missile Test Center.
I left my husband and returned to Massachusetts and lived with my parents fo...Expand for more
r about 14 years. I worked there for A.C. Spakr Plug Co., I found work as a receptionist for United States Rubber Co. in Dedham and worked their approximately 13 years when the company moved. I returned to the Telephone Company and finished raising my two children. A girl and a boy Robert.
I married my present husband in 1972 and we ran an excavatingbudiness. I did all of the office and paper work . We lived on a farm but we dicided to move to South Carolina in 1997. Sold our business and at that time we had been raising Paso Fino horses. So we loaded everything up with twelve horses, several dogs , cats and one rabbit. They were shipped and we followed with our belongings.Neve felt sorry about the move, except I do miss some of our old friends but keep in touch with them and our families.
We showed our beautiful Paso Finos here in the area of Tenn, Gerogia, North Carolina and of course South Carolina. It has been a great life.
