Anne's Story
I live in Stuart, FL full time as we sold our beloved condo in Traverse City two summer ago.
I lost my husband in March of 2022. We were married for 60 years so it's been a difficult adjustment being on my own. My two adult children have been incredibly helpful in helping me deal with this new life. I recently purchased a small cottage in the same golf community that we've been in for 30+ years. I still need to sell my house, and downsize before I actually move.
As a widow I've had to seek out new friends as couples tend to spend time with other couples. I don't play golf or tennis anymore but I do still play a lot of duplicate bridge both online (from Covid Days) and in person. I belong to a wonderful book club that brings the authors in to speak to us. I'm still a member of the DAR because of my love for genealogy
although I rarely attend meetings/luncheons. At a certain age one has attended enough meetings for one life time. I play trivia with a group at a local restaurant and have a group that plays monthly in the community where I live.
My big love has been a shelter dog that I adopted last summer. The poor girl was found wondering the streets of West Palm and then has been in and out of shelters for 5 months.
Anna has her issues and can be aggressive with vets but at home she is a sweetheart with long strawberry blond hair and an unfortunate overbite. She is supposedly a cairn terrier but she must have had a dachshund in her background as she is quite long. I walk her at 6 am for 1/2 hour every morning so I can meet some friends for coffee at 7 am 5 days a week.
We walk in the afternoon, too.
Our son is a criminal defense attorney and our daughter is a special education attorney. They both live in Denver and they each have 2 daughters. Both sent their oldest daughters to colleges this fall. After my husband's death I spent a couple of months in Colo...Expand for more
rado trying to decide if I should move there or stay in Florida. For now, I opted for Florida.
I stay in contact with Mary Sue White (Sue Zuchetto) who lives in Salt lake City and Charlevoix, Mi in the summers.from our Fordson class of 1956. Sue and I were neighbors and buddies growing up so it's been a lifelong friendship. I've reconnected with Mary Zdan Schnizler on Facebook which is fun. I stay in touch with Nancy McKechnie from the UP.

In August of 2014 I met Ruth Wegmann Carter for lunch when she was visiting relatives in the Leelanau Peninsula. We were roommates for one year at the University of Michigan and friends at Fordson. I had grown
up one street over from Ruth's husband Jim Carter and had known him since we were both about 7 years old.
I like to stay in touch with other classmates via this website. I still have copies of most of the photos from the 50th reunion bulletin boards. I am very saddened by the loss of so many of our "56 classmates before and since that reunion.
I was really saddened when Jim Harder passed away in June, 2017. Jim and I go back to the days when we all played football and hardball after grade school until the sun went down. Those are fond memories. Jim and I got together and shared photos and reunion keepsakes in the summer (2015 ) which Jim used to put together a book of memories to share at the annual Dearborn Inn luncheon. There was a memorial mass for Jim at St. Kateri's in Dearborn. After, Jim's family had a luncheon at a nearby restaurant.
There were many Fordson '56 graduates who attended. Jim would have been happy to have all of us together. Jim was one of the most positive, optimistic people that I can imagine. I'm not sure that reunions will ever be the same without his input and enthusiasm
I really enjoy hearing about Fordson classmates and staying in touch. Fordson was a special place.
