Adrienne's Story
Life
I just want to say aloha to my fellow bulldogs! I attended Kaimuki High School from 1985 through 1989. I initially registered to be a member of this web site in hopes of locating friends I've lost contact with - specifically, Mary Ann Nagamine, Summer Morton, Nalani Lien and Alexandra Fernandez. We were some "kooks" weren't we? Remember all the HIC, T&C and Jimmy Z gear? Anyhow, if by chance any of you are reading my "bio" (lol), please shoot me an e-mail. I would love to hear how your journey through life is going.
Speaking about life... As much as I love Hawaii and all of my family and friends, I made the decision to pack up and leave with my husband and two children in 1998. It was not an easy decision, believe me. I've been living in Virginia ever since. Looking at the present cost of real estate, gas, etc., I think I made the right choice. Don't get me wrong, I will always consider Hawaii my home, but I felt I could provide my kids with a little more ...Expand for more
"luxuries" by living in an affordable part of the U.S.
Anyway, I'm perpetuating the "pidgin" language here in my household. I can't seem to let go of that part of me. A "haole" friend of mine calls me Lilo, like the character from the cartoon. I've been asked if people in Hawaii still live in grass shacks and if I had to get a green card to live on the mainland. Of course, the question I've been asked most is, "Why would you want to leave Hawaii?" My answer is always the same - it's more economical here. I mean, a half-million dollars for a house! I wouldn't be able to pay the mortgage off in a lifetime.
Enough about that. If anyone has actually gotten this far, I want to say thank you for stopping in and I hope life is treating you well. I must say, I've been dealt a pretty good hand. I have a great husband and two bright children - a boy and a girl. I also have an awesome ohana (family) back home who never forgets about us thousands of miles away.
Aloha!
