Angela's Story

Life Well, I finally got my Masters in Music Performance from Central Washington University in June 2002. Graduated w/B. Mus. in Performance from University of Texas-San Antonio 5/2000. Member of the International Horn Society and former member of the Northwest Horn Society. Am taking auditions for orchestras whenever I can. Doing part time work as a nanny, but am almost done with that. May go into private teaching or a doctoral program in music. Aspiring to be an orchestral hornist in a major sym. orchestra or teach either at a good college or have a big private studio. Music is basically my life! Eat, sleep, breathe, study music! And wouldn't want it any other way! Email when ya can! Look up Angie and Becky's Horn page on the web engines. School My school life: BAND, BAnd, BAND!!! Throw in some Academic Decathlon, a little bit of musical play, and some science competitions, and you have Angela Gonzales. Oh, don't forget the sprain ankles. Oh, how I miss Mr. King (God rest his soul) and Mr. Gonzalez, the chem. teacher/Acad. Decath. coach. Transgenic Chicken Salad Sandwiches. But Mr. King, man, gave me so much inspiration, and saw more in me than I did. Who was my big crush? Like I would tell! That's a ...Expand for more
secret going to my grave. But if I did it all over again, I would do a lot better in my English classes, and maybe be more in your face in some situations. Other than that, no regrets! College Well, my UTSA days were days where I never saw the sun shine sometimes. I spent hours in a practice room, or my room practicing. But, I sure loved learning so much about music. I spent a lot of time in the library reading anything I could about the horn. Dr. Williams and Dr. Harris were my favorite profs. My Horn teacher, Stig Jensen, a symphony hornist, was so cool to learn many things about the horn. ****** My days at Central Washington Univ. were so amazing. I mean, I loved the mountains in WA and it was sooooo cooold! Lived in the 21 and over dorm (wild times). Didn't start drinking until my last year of grad study. Because of that, now I have NO tolerance for alcohol. So many papers to write, and my thesis, don't ask. Lived in the practice room and library. Thank goodness both closed at 11pm. My wonderful horn teacher, Dr. Jeff Snedeker. What a horn player! Classical, jazz, natural horn, what does this man NOT DO! And a nice guy on top of that! Well, that's all for now. Will I get my doctorate? Stay tuned...
