Gloria's Story

"Dream Lover" Bobby Darin 1959 "Glow Worm" Mills Brother 1957 04/11/2016 Current Event: Back at my house in Wasilla, AK with one huge difference -- my dad lives with me now. Listen to this: a year or so after my husband passed I tried to set up a different Facebook page to meet women who were also widowed. So, DON'T FRIEND THE ONE WITH A PICTURE OF ME IN A ORANGE HUNTING VEST, HAT, AND SUN GLASSES - I wanted to meet women who were looking to go on vacation/travel - who just wanted a companion - I didn't realize that selecting preferred female meant I wanted to date women - I got some weird proposals - I don't ever open that page because once I do - it activates it. I can't delete it because I lost the password... Chilocco: I found a site that has ALL the year books - I didn't realize that Chilocco was also a JR High school and life really did exist before I got there. (Samantha Joe/Begay I lost your address - I moved so much and can't find one of my address books). Please contact me via classmates of FB, my address has changed. Life Updated 05/01/2016. Wow, winter in my OLD home Juneau was nothing like I remembered it when I lived there years ago - It rained almost every day. It also rained pine-needles on my vehicle I was worried about it getting stuck in my engine and messing up the Integrity of the door seals for keeping the rain out; plus my dog Mister would lick them off the carpet - so I was worried about them puncturing his intestine or stomach; and, they kept getting under my window wipers leaving a wet streak across the windshield everytime I used them. I was with my dad for six months in Juneau; I made return reservations via marine vessel the Kennicott to come back across the Gulf of Alaska with my packed vehicle of two dogs and my dad and our junk. The Gulf of Alaska was a little rough but nothing like when I went from Whittier to Juneau by myself. Dad didn't like his little bunk so spent a lot of time out and about the boat - I kept going back to my bunk to read my Kendel; then go check on him to see if he was hungry or needed help to the men's room - he walks a little flat footed and I was scared the boat would be too rough for him to walk - he always laughed at me he is an old fisherman and spent decades on the ocean - it didn't stop me from worrying about him falling - I didn't want him to get medivac from the ship and if I was allowed to go with him - who would take care of my dogs. The drive back was exciting because i was going home. And, that is where I am today with a sore back and hips from doing a lot of manual labor around the houses - good grief my hip pain hasn't stopped...really depressed me today I went into urgent care - i'm on a steroid and muscle relaxer. It took the edge off - and it's time for me to find a real doctor that...(I don't know). My little house is crowed and especially now with my dad and his 100 years of do-dad's he just had to ship. So, I am just as busy here trying to make a home for us here unpacking as I was there packing. My dad took over the guestroom where the dogs stayed they are now my roommates in their little dog houses - if I let them sleep with me they push me out of bed. My dad saw his first moose about 8 feet away from my vehicle. He wants to hunt a moose so bad. I know the feeling I have something I'd like to do - so bad. So now - like today - my dad and I talked about putting in a half-bath for his room; enclosing the carport (moving the washer and dryer out to garage); and landscaping the garden. I live in Wasilla, AK (Matanuska Susitna Valley AKA Mat-Su) a cute one story on one acre. several plant beds in yard, a green house, and shed. I have my remote cabin (I miss it so much) in bush Alaska - I have a picture of it on my Facebook. I love it there; it's three miles on 4-wheeler after 4 hour drive on the Glenn Highway (Route 1); lake frontage, and 17 acres. I also have property on Kodiak Island but as a consortium of five of us, I haven't seen the property - I inherited it - I do pay taxes on it. I now own a Jeep/Sport - I LOVE IT! My health - Two years ago I had a bad pain in my legs that moved into my hips, now the pain has taken up permanent residency in my hips and has flared up yet again. While in Juneau I went to a bone and joint Dr. he spent 3 minutes with me and I got a shot of steroid in each hip - he told me to come back if I needed anything else. I try not to complain to much otherwise my dad will be taking care of me. I have often wondered if the weather is the cause of the pain. Update: I had an MRI - report is Normal - just the usual old bones. Now they want me to go back to PT a few times if that doesn't work then I will be referred to Pain Management in Anchorage. In the meantime I studied Statins and the pain it causes and learned about CoQ10 - I'll try it. I need a vacation in Hawaii - go metal detecting. It's been 10 years since my husband passed and I still very much miss our life. We did so much together: Big game hunting Alaska, safari in Africa, and Idaho; deep sea fishing in Mexico, Hawaii, south east and south central Alaska on streams for salmon, lakes for trout, white fish, and grayling; also walked the beaches for clam digging and beach combing; treasure hunting/detectin...Expand for more
g in England, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, Kentucky, Nevada, New Jersey, and Georgia; and gold mining all over Alaska - the old life. My Pets Two dogs - TWO PRECIOUS BOSTON Terriers (they don't bark) Mister and Sisterbelle' my babies. Mister is getting old - my little man is hard of hearing and going blind - I use to cry about it - now I give him sugar and awkward hugs - difficult to hug a small dog. I upped his pain meds (he has arthritis in his back). He has been sick to his stomach since we arrived home. This is his second bout of no food for 24 hours. I gave him some tummy meds - I hope something works - I don't want him to waste away. Sisterbelle is my mini guard dog. She thinks she is Mister's wife. She bosses us around. When I take her to the vet I thought she was trying to protect me - I noticed she is also trying to protect Mister. So, now I take them in one at a time - I usually have the same thing done to both while I'm at the vets. My Kids I have two daughters, one grand-daughter, one grand-son, and a great-grand-daughter. Shannon - married to (23 years) Ronnie they have one child - grand daughter *Chrisana 22 (I am a great grandma - BreiLynn 12/27/14 1 year 4 months. They came up last summer for a visit - talk about instant love - I wanted to be the mom and protect and take care. I tried not to be the mom to my great grand daughter the new little Raven AKA Berrybush. I lived in GA by them for about four years. But homesick got the best of me; so, I put my house on the market, packed my pets and came home; I have been back 3 years; in my house for past two and half years. Chrisana just obtained her CNA Certificate Nurses Aide. Plans to keep upgrading to Nursing... Kichana - has one child Logan, he is already 9. Kichana has a BS Psychology and Masters in HR Administration. Lives and works as a HR Supervisor in New Jersey. Grandson looks like grandpa. Kichana is married. Kichana and Logan visited the of summer 2014 - she plans every minute; but, she also wakes us up early to get going. We drove to North Pole, AK; stayed two nights in Fairbanks took a river boat tour. Drove to Denali, spent a night there and visited a dog kennel. We went fishing on the Little Susitna River I didn't catch anything (second year) she caught a dog salmon. I did manage to fall into the boat. At least I stayed dry. Southeast Alaska. My dad lived in Juneau for 90 plus years - his wife passed last fall. He is in wonderful shape, taking his meds, going to therapy, and no longer drives (only because I forced him to stop). We had dinner at Patty's the other night. I've visited with Patty a couple of times - we had a lot of laughes. School Couple of odds things happened in my junior and senior years. I went AWOL - by accident - we were visiting with someone that drove onto campus (after curfew) and the night guard and dog walked up behind us; so, we jumped in the car and off we went. I almost quit school once - I told the Matron I want to leave; on my way back to Alaska I got off the bus in Portland and tried to find my "mother"...that was a disaster. I went back to Juneau in time to be in my friend's wedding. Her family took me under their wing and I lived with them every summer - she didn't return our senior year so I went back alone. I have a couple of friends I'd like to continue with conversations... College Anchorage Community College and the University of Alaska Anchorage - about two years of credits, no degree. I worked with college and students for about 17 years. I should have kept on with college but I didn't. I took several classes at the Eagle River/Chugiak campus and tried a couple of times to drive into the Anchorage campus - but the roads were icy and I hate driving after dark. I'm late - I need to check in at work on Monday, May 2nd; then it begins.
