Christina's Story
So much to tell, so little space . . .
After Bishop McDonnell I went on to get my BA at Hunter College and, afterwards, a Certificate in Publishing and Graphics from NYU.
I¿ve had several interesting jobs, beginning with working for the agent for Norman Mailer and Evan Hunter, a/k/a Ed McBain. I was a Production Editor, a Marketing Manager for an imported vodka, part of the team that built the control tower at JFK, and the administrator of two churches.
Currently I am working for a mutual fund research company, but that only to pay the bills so that I can pursue my other interests. I am taking courses in flower arranging to prepare for a second career after I retire, should I need to earn money.
I spent almost 20 wonderful years performing with the Polish American Folk Dance Company, dancing at Lincoln Center, around the US and in Poland. When it was time to hang up my dance shoes, I needed another source of applause, so I started singing seriously, not only with church choirs, but also wit...Expand for more
h the Oratorio Society of Queens and now with the Transfiguration Camerata. Summers I attend Berkshire Choral Festival, a summer camp for choristers that culminates in a concert with orchestra, in Western Massachusetts.
I know that I can¿t sing forever, so I also take painting classes so that I will have a creative outlet (in addition to my other crafts) when the time comes.
Probably one of my proudest accomplishments was my contribution to a children¿s book about Poland. When I was manager of the Book Service at the Kosciuszko Foundation, the author had sent me the manuscript and asked for my commentary. It was filled with the usual half-truths about the Polish-Jewish issue. I replied with VOLUMES of pages debunking the lies and proving how many Poles aided the Jews during the Occupation (my grandfather among them). I am glad to say that the offensive material was removed.
I was married, briefly. There have been some relationships since then, but nothing permanent.
That¿s it in a nutshell.
