Barbara's Story
Life
My Spouse
Roger and I have been together almost 20 years, married for 16. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter in September 2011. She has lots of dark hair and loves to talk! Our family is now complete. 2012 will be another great year.
My Pets
I have 4 cats BeBe, Shadow, Isabella and Ziggy...I am a supporterof PETA and Humane Society, I love all animals and would love to have a dog one day.
My Job
I remain an RN, currently working for home health agency as Transition Care Coordinator. I love being a nurse.
College
I took dual enrollment courses at SPJC while still in high school and I CLEP'd out of the required courses English 1101/02, PSY, and social science. It was very hard, and I got into the nursing program because of my scores. Most students have to take the basics and then apply to the School of Nursing, I was able to do it all concurrently. ould do it if I had to do it over! My goal is to teach nursing one day- I want to apply to the Masters of Science in Nursing Program at FSU, Nurse Educator Track. I love being a nurse and I wish there wasn't a shortage because it really is rewarding work!
Workplace
Home health is much slower paced than the hospital and much more flexible than any other job I've had in awhile. With a newborn it is the best thing for right now. I'd love to retire early.
Military
My husband joined the Air Force just before we were married and I was fortunate enough to have been with him during his assignments. Our longest was at Langley AFB 1st Fighter Wing(in Hampton VA) where he was Editor of the base newspaper, The Flyer. It was an honor to be an Air Force wife, and we met some really great people. Virginia is a beautiful state. I am proud of my husband and he has such respect for our country and freedom. He's followed in his father's footsteps...a Veteran of the United States Air Force!
