Cara's Story

7-24-2010 Updated Life in General Hello Friends! I am currently working as a nurse at Cancer Care Center of Tuscaloosa. I graduated from Shelton State in Business then graduated in Nursing. I still enjoy Nursing but since the death of my Mom January 23, 2010, it has been difficult dealing with cancer patients because they are like family too. My Mom was first dx with ovarian cancer in 1995. She was a truly strong woman and had recurrent ovarian cancer that she fought until the end. Cathy and I took care of her at home. We were here home health! LOL. I moved in with her to help out in 2004 so you can imagine how quite it is at home now. Now I work all day and come home to work in the yard until dark. I have fruit trees, blueberries, figs and all of those beautiful flowers that made my mother happy all of those years. It is a task to do it by yourself though. Yes I have mastered the riding mower, push mower weedeater, trimmer, hedge trimmer, ax, hatchet, chainsaw, pruners and all other tools of the gardening trade!! I have two beautiful daughters. They look a little like me and a lot like their dad's side of the family. Courtney graduated Magna Cum Laude from UofA in Communicative Sciences/Mass Communications/Public Relations. She is engaged to Aaron Harrison from GA (wedding 5/2011). They bought a beautiful home down 69South near Hillcrest. Hannah attends Shelton prn and works at Iguana Grill as a hostess. She is dating a guy in the Army who is going to be in Alexandria VA for the next four years. (Wedding date unknown) David and I are happily divorced. We sadly lost Daddy Claude to lung cancer and it was like having my Dad die again too. Margaret is still Awesome /working and enjoying her family. I can hardly believe that we graduated from Gordo High in 1981. Time sure does fly! Please leave your name if ...Expand for more
you visit this site! I can't wait to hear from my high school friends. I also want to thank all of you for helping make high school FUN:) School My favorite part of school was seeing my friends daily. You don't know that the simple things you say to each other could stick in your mind and make you smile years later when you remember it!!!!!Thanks for all of the great memories. Elementary to Graduation. When I look back at those high school pictures I crack up laughing. David had a house fire (completey destroyed) and a lot of our high school pictures are gone along with our annuals. Needless to say when I left I took the girls and left a lot of sentimental things that are lost forever. General INFO I have not updated this site in about four year!!! Time does go by very fast. Yes I am still in Gordo for now. Thinking about selling my homestead and moving a little closer to Tuscaloosa to be nearer to my girls. That long drive to work everyday is OLD after all these years. Just dont ever want another house payment though. I still love to paint, draw, doodle, etc. I helped my neice Jodie remodel her house in Somerville, AL. I know how to paint, tile, landscape, drywall and we even put river rocks on her wall for a spa look (grout/morter/etc) thanks to an episdode of DIY!! We love going to Sips N Strokes with friends. Suzanne Cannon and I have our own version at my house when we find something we would rather paint. My therapy is working in that yard when it is less than 100 degrees outside. I have enjoyed making jellies, jams, perserves, etc from things that I grow at home. Yes people - I can cook. Yes- I am independent and enjoy doing what I want - when I want! No surprise there! HAHA. Thanks for reading my update. I hope that GOD continues to bless each of you. I thank him every day for my family and friends.
