Bruce's Story
Workplace
Well, following high school, I joined the Marine Corps and loved every minute. I decided that I wanted to fly for the Marines, so I went to ISU and earned my degree in Aerospace Technology. I was then commissioned an officer in the Marines, but once I got to Pensacola, I was told that, due to my eyes not being 20/20, that I would not fly. I then spent the next five years as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer. On the side, I taught at the base Aero Club and a few local airports, increasing my flight time.

hen got out of the Marines and tried to get on with a number of airlines. Unfortunately, they weren't hiring at the time, so I went to work for a couple of computer companies. I spent about four years working in the computer industry before I was hired by the California Highway Patrol. After working the road for eight years, I was finally selected to be a pilot for the department. My wife and I moved from San Clemente (South Orange County) to Napa to accept the position. I now fly a Cessna 206 full time and love it.
