Janine's Story
Some things never change. Still close to home, still same ol' girl, never did quite figure out how to fit in, no longer care if I do or not. Still have no patience for the deliberately ignorant. Married to local farm boy of my dreams, have one son who is wonderful (yes I'm biased, but others agree), and lots of animals. Work as a nurse and hoping to soon retire to my little place in the country, since I have some health issues now. Spend most of my time away from work gardening or playing with my critters, sometimes go over to friends for a visit. Pretty much a homebody these days, and like it that way. Every couple of years or so the farm actually makes enough to afford to travel a little, but I'd rather just go fishing with the folks or hang out at home. Travel has become too ...Expand for more
much of a hassel for me anymore, not just because of the health issues. The longer I work in health care, the more I realize that the American public is pretty much screwed by our current system, but I'll be darned if I know how to fix things. I still have a lot of family left in the area, and mostly I prefer to spend my time with them when I can. Have recently thought about going back to school to finish my degree, but don't really feel like it would be worth it at this point in my life. The local economy is just as bad or worse than ever, and having a degree just wouldn't help much at this point here. Since hubby is into farming his family land, moving isn't much of an option. Guess when I retire I'll just become another old farm wife and help out running for parts and stuff.
