Marie's Story
Life
My husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in May 2006. We have 2 children, Cathy 49 and Jeffrey 43. 3 grandsons, 22, 20 & 18 and one granddaughter 14. The oldest grandson is in the AF and is stationed in Charleston SC. The youngest grandson is in the Marines, currently stationed in Pensacola, FL.
We have a very spoiled minature doberman pinscher.
We have lived in Florida for 14 years now and in 2001 we built a new house on Indian River, the Intracoastal waterway. I love to fish so I think it is great. We have a boat house but no boat but I can catch reds, flounder and trout right off the dock while I'm having my wine and reading my book. We lived beachside New Smyrna Beach (it's about 20 miles south of Daytona Beach) until we had this house built.
After leaving Cameron, I resumed high school in Indianapolis and finally graduated and started college. I took mainly courses that enhanced my job at Naval Avionics alth...Expand for more
ough they sent me to different job related courses several times a year.
I retired in 1988 from Naval Avionics Center in Indianapolis (now Raytheon Corp) and hubby retired after 30 years in the trucking industry in 1992. When I retired from Naval Avionics, I was the Manager of the Maintence Branch and had 4 inspectors and a secretary. My branch was in charge of the building maintenace contracts. At the time I retired, our janitorial contract alone was over $1.2 million a year. The job was very interesting but also very stressful.
Although I have my broker's license in Indiana, I haven't pursued that career here in Florida. I did work for a while as a bookkeeper for a real estate office but decided the job was interfering with my leisure time.
Our son still lives in Fishers, Indiana but our daughter and granddaughter live within 2 miles of us now. She works for the post office in New Smyrna Beach and our son works for Roche in Fishers.
