Lisa's Story

After High School, I went to Purdue University in Indiana, wishing I could become a veterinarian, but instead getting a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering. I went to work for Exxon as an engineer and spent the majority of my career with them, but also have worked with two other Oil Companies. I was married right after graduation and have since divorced and have not had any children. After Exxon and before my employment in the oil business again, I went back to school for Civil engineering and construction and got an associate in that and worked 2/3rds of my way thru a Masters degree in Civil Engineering at Rutgers because I wanted to get into the Construction field. Worked at a small land development firm for a while, got my Professional Engineers License and then went back into the Oil Business, so I could afford to build my first home at the Jersey Shore in Pt Pleasant Beach - never liked anyone telling me I couldn't do something - so proved them wrong by building and GCing my own large 3 story home! During that time I continued my love of animals by expanding my own pet family from one Burmese cat by adding a parrot, then Pomeranian dogs and a black Arabian horse (stallion)to my family. Due to the theft of one of my much loved Pomeranians named Taz and my search for him, I also started rescuing Pomeranian dogs on the side and preparing them for a good life in future good homes! I transferred to Houston in 2005 in the oil business and have all my pets ith me, added another Arabian horse (this time a Mare) and continue to rescue Pomeranian dogs here in Texas. I go back and forth between Houston and NJ frequently since I still have my NJ shore home a...Expand for more
nd relatives and friends out there! Most recently, I have also become an advocate for people's rights to own animals and am against all the crazy restrictions and new laws that the crazy animal rights groups keep pushing in all government locations and that take away people's constitutional rights. To clarify, I believe in supporting reasonable animal welfare issues like improving the conditions at local animal shelters, educating people kindly on how to best care for their pets and trying to educate people about the many pluses of adopting the No Kill Solution at animal shelters to save more animals. I also try and educate people about the very different Animal Rights groups that have an entirely different agenda and to be wary of those large national and international AR groups. I believe all people should treat animals kindly, whether they are pets, working animals, strays or food animals. I am not a vegetarian and I am against Animal Rights and the large organizations like the the Humane Society of the US, ASPCA and PETA, who use people's compassion for animals to build rich non-profit organizations that advance their hidden agenda to ban use of all animals by man, whether as pets or as a food source, etc. I hope I haven't scared anyone away - I am really just a kind, down to earth person that has a professional career, that loves the Beach, loves fast sport cars, loves to do different things in my life that I previously would have thought to be impossible, believes in standing up for the underdog or underperson and who hopes to try in some small way to contribute back to society. I look forward to seeing what my other classmates are doing too!
