Maria's Story
Life
I guess it's time that I update my bio.
Since Dec 2003 (when I last updated my bio), a lot has happened in my life. I am still living in San Antonio, Tx with my family. I recently celebrated my 20th wedding anniversary (in November 2006) with my husband, Tony. We still have two kids at home: Elizabeth, now 18 and a senior in high school, will part of the first ever graduating class (2007) of the new John Paul Stevens High School. Zachary, now 14, is a freshman at the John Jay Science and Enginerring Academy (a magnet school). We also have had two additions to our family: Christy, our eldest, has blessed our family with two beautiful children (Alicia and Ray). So, I spend my days playing "grandma" to my grandbabies and I really enjoy it.
For those of you who don't know, I have retired from the Navy in May 2005 and attended the University of Phoenix (San Antonio) to complete my Bacehlor's degree. Later this month, the school will be hosting it's first ever commencement ceremony which I will be participating in.
I will try to get better at updating my bio, but I won't make any promises because I suffer from a serious case of procrastination.
Until then, take care.

College...Expand for more
After completing my military service in May 2005, I went back to school full time to complete work on my Bachelor's Degree. I attended the University of Phoenix (San Antonio) and complete my Bachelor's of Science/Business Management degree in September 2006. The university will hold it's first commencement ceremony on February 24, 2007.

Workplace
The only job I had prior to enlisting in the Navy was working as a Page at the Maywood Public Library in Maywood, Il. I worked all through high school and I am grateful for the experience. Whenever I go back to visit family in Il, I always try to visit my friends at the library. I am also grateful and proud that the staff honored me by flying my retirement flag at the library shortly before I retired from the Navy.

Military
I graduated from high school in 1984. A year later (1985), I joined the Navy and attended basic training training in Orlando, Fl. From there, I went to Pensacola to learn my trade. The places I've stationed during my 20-year Naval career are listed in my communities. No one duty station stands out as they all hold special memories for me. I retired from the Navy in May 2005.
