Carol's Story

Life 2009 - You knew me as Carol Mitchell. It seems impossible to catch up on 50 years since our graduation. There was Kaiser School of Nursing in Oakland for a year, transfer to UCLA and graduation with a BA. I completed a Ph.D. in Genetics at UCSD, did postdoctoral work at the Salk Institute and joined the faculty at UC San Diego in 1983. I was a Professor of Medicine/Cancer Center doing research on Breast Cancer and became a Prof. Emeriti in 2004. I was married to Dan MacLeod, a lawyer in San Diego for 3...Expand for more
4 years. We parted peacefully and I am now married to Steve Cordell who was my first love. I have two children who both live in San Diego and I'm a grandmother! Steve has two children living in Germany and is a new grandfather. We now live in DC, where I worked at the National Cancer Institute. Steve is a retired engineer, active now writing and working on his numerous patents. It was great finding my old friend Deanna Plumlee by enrolling on this site and we visited her family in Santa Rosa some time ago!!

This is Steve being escorted by an active service member through Seattle airport on the Honor Flight return from Washington DC. The escort went through the entire concourse and Steve shook hands and enjoyed applause by man
