Austin's Story
Life
I can only say that as I grew up, my view of being invincible (so to speak) was tempered with emotions. I was living my life too close to death. I have released some feelings in poems that I have written. These or just two of which are located at Poetry.com
A Sailor's Wish
I left from home as a child
Yes, I was often bold and wild
I knew the way it was to be
She said that I want to be free
When I left it was within the navy
The day Mom found out, she had a hissy
I went around the world
And all across the oceans
With only getting four promotions
I learned to swab the decks
And clean all kinds of messes
We launched the aircraft to serve a purpose
This was not for any anger
The ship was never in danger
Often I felt as I were a stranger
I loved all the sea, crest and foam
My only wish that I ever had
Was to be back at home

Experiences too close to call
I had many experiences too close to call
First was my birth, way to soon,oh so small
Often I was ready to show my stuff
After reaching of age this became to tuff
TWA was high-jacked and flown all about
At Rome International many people were shot
This occurring while I was flown out
On that infamous ship USS Nimitz
For him it was his pain staking limit
Yard workers came to do their jobs
How could I know that day it was by the mobs
You as one of them, new to your work
I had a job to do, never knowing what lurks
Some of us were sure to see it through
I was determine to make it safe
I was never ready for this not even a clue
I wish the ability to foresee your fate
Out of the four of us I still have to say
I had many experiences but through it all
I wish yours was just only to close to call
