John's Story
Life
After almost not getting out of high school, I taught for 5 years. After starving for awhile, I decided to do something to make money and provide for my leasure hours. r 70, whichever comes first. Then, I guess I'll retire and spend my time chasing fish, game or a golf ball...along with Mrs. Right.
Military
Every body in the "Early Tymes" band was joining, so I did too! Started basic at Fort Benning, Ga. in 4/69 and left in 6/69 along with my partner Rod (Dr. Rod) Henley. It was a hoot! Did OJT at the 283rd Army Band located at Headquarters Co. in Fort Benning. Was there in 7/69 when man first set foot on the moon and I left the day after Hurricane Camille struck the Gulf Coast.
