Carey's Story
Life
Kind of weird writing a bio, sort of like an obit...here goes. I've been pretty lucky to have experienced a lot of different things, junior college football, Air Force in Denver and Blytheville Ark, came back to Memphis and worked in the restaurant business for 10 years until I finally go my IT degree. During this time met and married my first wife.
After working at Autozone in the IT department for a few years and a divorce ( no kids, just a horse ), moved out to Denver to work for Boston Market in IT. Fell in love with the mountains hiking, climbing, skiing, and just playing !
Somehow or another Autozone convinced me to come back to Memphis and work for them again. that lasted a couple of years until some of the guys who founded Boston Market started calling me. By then I'd become a specialist in building IT departments for fast growing companies. Oh yea, got remarried. The guys convinced me to move to Minneapolis to turn around a company with them, had fun, did lots of great work and MInneapolis is a great city. The company was purchased by Best Buy who I worked for a while until the guys called again.
This time they were doing a start up...Expand for more
in MEXICO, running the operations out of San Diego. So my wife, my new son ( born in Minneapolis ) and myself moved to San Diego where I commutted into Tijuana or flew down to Mexico City several times a week. This was a very interesting adventure San Diego is a great city. Eventually I finished what I intended to do and move out to Washington DC to build an IT group for a gourmet grocery store chain. ( By then we also had a daughter, born in San Diego ).
After several years in DC ( one of the worst cities I"ve ever lived in ) the 'guys' called again. They had purchased a 400 million dollar consumer electronics company and needed to rebuild the IT department.
So finally I"ve gotten to come back 'home' to Denver with the wife and a five and two year old. Okay I started late but it's keeping me young. My career is great, I'm Vice President of IS, get to really do fun things at work. The 'guys' are considering buying some other companies and running them out of Denver so we are planning on staying here. Back into the mountains, hiking, biking, a little skiing ( not the black runs I use to do ) and running.....so life is and has been exciting and good....
