Audrey's Story
Wow, after a very long time of being raised by my three fantastic kids, I went back to nursing school at the age of 36. Prior to that, I had worked for the Philadelphia Daily News. Held a marketing/sales supervisory position; with the last four years there supervising teamster truck drivers with a sales district from Washington DC to New York City. Loved it! Got tired of the 24/7 beeper life, but also knew that the newspaper business was headed for rough times and that utopia wouldn't last. (And it didn't). Have been a Labor and Delivery nurse for the last 15 years. There's something unbelievable about being the first person to place hands on a new life taking it's first breath. (Doc's don't always get there in time). Wish I had kept count! I tell them they owe me a lobster for every baby I catch for them. I've never collected, but I could feed a small village. Started out at Episcopal in North Philly, and am now at Cooper in Camden. Known as the ...Expand for more
Ghetto nurse. Love my job, and my patients. This is probably what I should have started out doing, but when you're 18 or l9 years old, its kind of impossible to make a life decision. Very few regrets over the years, very little I would have changed. (People who know and love me know what they are), but then, I wouldn't have the great kids (3) and grandchildren (3) that I now have. Gotta sacrifice to get. Left the rat race of the city and bought a big single in Cherry Hill, got tired of trying to find a parking space near my home. Treated myself to a convertible for my 49th birthday, yes, we are that old, and am enjoying life. Very involved in Brittany Spaniel rescue. We foster the breed and get them to their forever homes, in addition to the three dogs (there's that number again) that are mine. Love to travel: my idea of a vacation is the three B's: Bathing suit, beach and beer. Show me a mountain, I'll ski it.
WHAT A LONG STRANGE TRIP IT'S BEEN!
