Joe Lorenzo:  

Hey. I'm Joe Lorenzo. I was born in Brooklyn, NY, where I attended grade school. At the tender age of 13 I left home for Andover, Massachusetts, and attended St. Francis Seminary, a preparatory seminary for the Franciscan Friars. In 1967 I entered the Franciscan Order in Catskill, New York, and began my year of novitiate. In August, 1968 I took my first vows and began college at Immaculate Conception Seminary in Troy NY. I completed those studies with a B.A. in philosophy and also studied Sacred Music at Manhattanville College in Purchase NY. I began theology studies at St. John's Seminary in Boston (Brighton) and music studies at Boston University Graduate School. I was ordained a priest on May 8, 1976 at St. Anthony Church in Manhattan, NYC. My first assignment as a priest was at St. Pamphilus Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I became pastor in 1979 and served there until 1989. I was elected to the Provincial Council in 1989, and became Vocation Director for my Franciscan Province.
