Susan's Story
I live and work in San Antonio. Many people who live here in this city have lived here their whole lives. At times, this makes me jealous, because they get to see their old friends and family on a regular basis. For instance, I recently attended a party for a co-worker who was turning 42 years old, the same age as I am now. Another co-worker/party attendant told me that he and the honoree had been friends for 35 years! And now they work in the same place! How cool is that? Now, my best friends and family are spread all over the globe. These guys could eat lunch together daily if they wanted to; all I get is the occasional email or phone call. And sadly, all but the closest of my friends are lost forever;...Expand for more
there are no happy, coincidental encounters at the mall as so often happens for the long-time residents of San Antonio.
My point here is not to wallow in self-pity (ok, well, maybe a little.) As I watch my children grow and form their friendships, some that may last a lifetime, some that may only consist of hanging out on a few occasions, I see how each relationship affects their personality and who they are. This makes me nostalgic and appreciative of all of the friends that I have had throughout my life who have contributed to who I am now. So, my point is, if you knew me well enough to want to click on my profile and read these paragraphs, I wish we lived closer. I would love for us to have lunch together.
