NEAL T. (TOM) COUCH 9284 County Road 99 Lillian, AL 36549 (828)329-5224 Twenty-three years in the USAF as a pilot, instructor pilot staff officer and commander. Three years instructing in the T-1A Jayhawk simulator. Seven years instructing in the T-6A Texan II simulator. Ten years of public school teaching experience. EXPERIENCE: JAN 2010-Present. Instructor Pilot. GS employee at NAS Pensacola. Platform instructor for Be-40 systems, aerodynamics and instruments. Civilian Simulator Instructor (CSI) for USAF Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT). Teach college students to fly. Repair antique clocks. MAR 2002-Jan 2010: Instructor Pilot, Lear Seigler Services. Responsible for training Air Force pilots to safely fly the T-6A, Texan II simulator during basic, contact, instrument and formation operations. Class room instructor responsible for Flying Fundamentals and basic Navigation Courses. JAN 1998-FEB 2001: Instructor Pilot, Boeing Aircraft Operations. Responsible for training Air Force pilots to safely fly the T-1A, Jayhawk, during basic transition, instrument, and USAF mission familiarization operations. Classroom instructor: taught the Air Refueling Familiarization, Formation and Air Drop Courses. Taught advanced Academics, Instrument Training, Avionics Systems Classes. Performed the initial acceptance tests for the Collins Global Positioning System Part Task Trainer and simulator. Wrote several simulator lesson plans. Wrote several textbook articles for Flying Rhino publishing. AUG 1993-JAN 1998: Department Head/Senior Aerospace Science Instructor, AFJROTC. Administer the AFJROTC program in accordance with Air Force directives. Directly responsible to the principal for the AFJROTC program. Supervise the Aerospace Science Instructor. Taught four major areas of Aerospace Science and three major areas of Leadership Education to students, grades 9-12. Assist students in developing self-directed training and staff activities. Manage equipment and clothing accounts; school and AF budgets. Routinely addressed gatherings of 40 to 1000 students, teachers and parents JAN 1992-AUG 1993: Substitute Teacher, K-12. Worked in several school districts within the Sacramento area teaching secondary and elementary classes, severely handicapped special education classes, and special day classes. Responsible for the Rio Vista Summer High School Proficiency and Migrant Education Program. Developed curriculum and implemented the program for 40 Hispanic students and ten proficiency students over six weeks. Supervised three student teachers. Wrote for a public relations firm. AUG 1991-JAN 1992: Director, Student and Residential Life, Lassen Community College. Worked directly for the Dean, Student Personnel Services. Managed the Residence Hall, Student Government, Student Activities Programs and the cafeteria contract. Was responsible for a $300,000 budget, three facilities and directly responsible for the feeding and housing of over 200 students. Responsible for all student activities for a community college. MAR 1988-AUG 1991: Deputy Commander for Resource Management, 14th Air Division. Directed supply, transportation, contracting and logistics plans functions for a Strategic Air Command reconnaissance wing and air division. Edited numerous documents including staff studies, position and talking papers, cost and budget analysis, operating instructions and program directives. Developed the program plan directive for the reactivation of Second Air Force. During Desert Shield directed the consolidation and movement of over 500 metric tons of parts and equipment and 2700 personnel to Saudi Arabia over a period of three weeks. Served in Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield as the Base Commander for King Khalid International Airport. JAN 1986-MAR 1988: Base Commander, 6168th Combat Support Squadron. Directed base and logistics support functions for an F-4E Pacific Air Forces flying organization. Directly supervised over 750 personnel in 15 diverse functions and was responsible for the welfare of over 2700 personnel. Managed a 6.5 million dollar budget, 89 facilities, a 200,000 plus line item supply account and over 300 vehicles. Was responsible for the maintenance of major facilities and utilities. Initiated 2.5 million dollar projects to improve base facilities and utilities including two new dormitories, a dining hall, and numerous MWR facilities. Responsible for the construction, food services and management of three Team Spirit tent cities. MAY 1984-JAN 1986: Chief of Protocol, United States Forces, Japan. Directed an administrative staff, which developed and executed itineraries for high ranking civilian and military visitors to Japan. On average over 35 flag rank officers were accommodated each month. Arranged official ceremonies and events interfacing with Japanese and Korean military and civilian dignitaries. Was responsible for security, housing, meals and entertainment of distinguished visitors including President and Mrs. George Bush, Senator Barry Goldwater, and Senator and Mrs. Bob Dole. AUG 1970-MAY 1984: Pilot, Instructor Pilot, Evaluator Pilot, Operations Officer, Command Post Controller, Chief, Reconnaissance Operations Center, Chief, Training Flight. Deployed worldwide to Thailand, UK, Spain, Germany, Greece, Japan, Korea. Directly responsible for the advanced flying training of over 500 pilots in KC-135A operations and procedures. Involved in the initial air refueling tests for the B-1B and MC-130. Set up and administered numerous specialized training programs including Inertial Navigation System training. Scheduled all ground and flight training and operational sorties for a KC-135 squadron. Directly involved in the KAL 007 recovery operations.
