Bill's Story
Life
My life has been a life of service, first to my God, second to my family, and thirdly to my country, and last but not least to my neighbors and friends. I am the father of 6 beautiful children and the grandfather to 15. I have the most beautiful wife in the world, we have been married for 38 years, and intend to be together forever. I love the USA, and have a keen interested in all the rest of the world. I have been bless with many material blessings in my life, but most important Spiritual blessings.
School
The public school system grades 1 through 12 was not a very plesant experience for me. I had a difficult time, poor study habits, and corresponding grades. College
Education was a struggle for me. I graduated from high school in 1959, it took me until 1979 to get my bachelor of science degree, then to 1982 to received the master of science degree. My key to success was persistance, no matter how difficult, time consuming, I simply refused to give up, until I had reached my goal. As I approach retirement age, I think I may go work on a PHD.
Workplace
I've tried to make it a rule only change jobs when a promotion is gained. If you think that I've changed a lot, you are right, but this was my motivation. I believe that it has paid off.
Military
Served in the USN after high school. Was out for two years, then I got smart and joined the USCG. My experience was great there. I was able to participate in the rescue of a rather large number of individuals in life threating situations. Also to contribute, from an engineering prospective, a number of electronics systems which are still being used aboard Coast Guard Cutters.
