The summer after HS graduation, I went to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for basic training. After the summer, we started the academic year, but were still treated like we were in basic training for the next full year. day I graduated.
I had so many wonderful opportunities there. I was able to do free-fall parachuting, soaring, water survival, POW training, etc., which I would never have done otherwise. It was a great chance to challenge myself and see what I was really capable of.
When I graduated, I was commissioned as an officer in the Air Force.
