School
After High School I attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma to make use of a vocal scholarship I had received and to get a few units head start for attending Western in the fall of '63. I went to Western for only one year as a Music Major and then went to Los Angeles to attend a small, private opera workshop that was just to have been for the summer. However, we ended up finding a great voice teacher and I never returned to Bellingham - except to visit family of course. I studied with Dr. Strelitzer for several years and coached with another teacher while attending extension courses at UCLA, USC and Los Angeles City College, focusing on opera and other related music classes. Dr. S. wanted to take me to Germany to start my career but I was too big of a chicken and wouldn't go. In the mean time, I met my husband-to-be and we started a Christian singing group, Dove Sounds, which pretty much ended my formal vocal training.

ing as a special-ed teacher's assistant, I was encouraged by the teacher I was working for to go back to school and get a teaching credential. I had already had experience being a music teacher for a private school and really liked it so I started my whole college experience all over again by going to night school and taking a full load. I got as far as my AA then injured my back and had to go into a different line of work - phlebotomy. I couldn't keep up the college studies so I droped out and have never gone back. My daughter keeps bugging me that I should resume my studies and finish my degree and I toy with the idea now and then but the time isn't right yet. (See my life bio). Maybe some day I will but it sure as heck won't be for teaching. I wouldn't have the patience with the kids, the parents or the administration anymore the way things are now.
So, that's the sum total of my College Experience. It's not much, but who knows? I Ain't Down Yet!
