Denice Marie's Story

College Graduated St. Francis University in 1990. While my major was Political Science and International Relations (always had that flair t get out and discover far away places), I mostly studied coursers outside of my major...I studied acting and performed with the New Student Thetare, and the Allegheny Highlands Regional Theatre in nearby Ebensburgh. I studied in Japan, at The University of Maryland Univeristy College's Asian Divison and dove into Japanese. I attended the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Graduate School in Washington D.C. and studied Japanese, Chinese, Congressional office Operations, and more. Workplace Present: Still heavily involved in the performing arts and Professionally acting in my spare time, not alot of that these days. (most recent projcet was with the Johnstown Magazine..hitting shelves the week of 27 March. I was awarded the John P. Murtha Veteran's Tuition Scholarship and so it is back to school again for me to making a career change into the medical field. 07May 2005...7 PM...Performing with Johnstown Symphony Orchestra and the chorus (singing Soprano one with Chorus). Pasquerlla Center for the Performing Arts! Come and see us and to say hello! Worked in the Tim Burton movie BIG FISH since February. Our costumer, Colleen Atwood won an Oscar for her work in the movie CHICAGO. She also designed Catherine Zeta's gown that she wore at the Oscar's. I am in the Circus Scenes and the ghostly town of SPECTER scenes, and night dance scene. You won't recognize me (maybe you will, a few have) becasue I look like a cross between Donna Reed and Grace Kelly. I'm in authentical 1950's dresses and my hair is done in the fashion of that day. Instructed modeling, Honolulu, Hawai'i I LOVE walking the runway and I LOVED instructing girls how to work the runway. Prior to all of these things I've worked as a signals intelligence specialist in the army, worked on Capitol Hill in my field of study (political science), and many other things. All the while, I've been pursuing theatre, acting, and modeling along the way. I did a lot of this work in Honolulu, but things took off for me in when In Montg...Expand for more
omery when cast in Big Fish. We'll see what happens. English teacher in South Korea, near Pusan. Military After college, enlisted (even thought I could have been commissioned as an officer) in the Army. I qualified for one of the highest ASVAB scoring jobs in the serive....military intelligence. Positipns are contingent on ASVAB scores. So, I shoved off and took basic at Fort Jackson, S.C. in the dead of summer. I had problems acclimatizing to the heat initially. I spent the first week in boot camp dehydrated. Not fun! I faired well. I was in the "high speed" running group, and had no problem with PT (Physcial training). It wasn't easy...by any means and my favourite was what came at the end...live night fire where war was simulated at night time. Tracer rounds were zooming over our heads and it was really almost real. I graduated basic on 01 OCT 1992...I arrived for duty in Misawa Japan at the Cryptologic operations Center, 750th MI Compnay, 700th MI Brigade in January, 1993. My service there was from 1993-1995. From 1996 to 2004, I was a marine corps wife and in that sense, continued to serve in the military, only this is more difficult on the spouse end of it!!! While in Japan, I did many things and experienced so much! I was selected to teach English to the 9th divison of the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force and received a beautiful Japanese Festival doll from them. My class took all but one of the English competitions!!!! The bond between my japanese counterparts in my particular class was incredible. This was my most incredible assignment of my life to date! I'll never forget them and to this day, I miss them as much as I did in April of 1995. I lived on Camp Hachinohe for a week and this was one of the happiest times of my duty there. It was amazing. And that is even an understatement. I was blessed beyond belief with this assignment. Sgt. Osani, Junya saisaki, and the rest of my class were a rare gift as well as the assignment. This assignemt at Camp Hachinohe is as clear as yesterday. You never know where life will take you unless you have the courage to take an incredible journey. Mine continues......
