Monica's Story
Life
I moved to Texas after College to work for the ABC Affilliate Newschannel 5 as a weekend weathercaster and weekday news reporter. Three months into my two year contract I met the most incredible man we ended up getting married in 2000 and I ended up stuck in South Texas. We're way down on the border next to Mexico. Its rural, flat, tons of farming..hot and humid..not what I had planned but I couldn't be happier. My husband Scott is the greatest. I quit the TV station several months after my first boy was born and after 6 years on air. I loved my job but I love being a mom more...who would've figured? Definitely not me! Now I have 3 boys, lots of awesome family and friends, we go to the beach we have horses and cattle. We built our house on our small ranch.I started a garden, I'm homeschooling my two oldest, and just built an awesome chicken coop/mansion! I also just took an offer to go back to the TV station to work two days a week doing the weather again. Its a great mix. I have all the things in life that matter and feel soo blessed.

es during and right after college. Then i went to work for a local TV station where I learned to produce the newscast for a morning show, write and report. I got a job on air in Texas two years after starting from scratch at KUSI and off I went to the Rio Grande Valley to be the weekend weather girl and weekday reporter. It was super fun and challenging and I thought I'd get experience and then move on eventually making my way back home... but I met the man of my dreams..or actually who is better than anything I ever dreamed ...and now my home is Texas. Six years into my career I had a baby and it changed my priorities. News television has terrible hours and you're on call day and night 365 days a year. I quit to have kids..so I have three now. Recently...2011...they asked me back for two new morning shows on Saturday and Sunday. Now I 'm working a few hours each morning doing the weather and then the day is mine..and the whole week at home to do the mom thing. Its the perfect mix of keeping me in my chosen career, but allowing me to be a mom and wife first. God is good!
