Roberta's Story
Man...what can I say now that I'm nearing 50? For women, this falls into the frontier located somewhere between blue hair and blue eyeshadow - yikes! Fortunately, I delayed a lot of things, like getting married and having kids, thus I have many things keeping me younger these days. My daughter is by far my best accomplishment. She is 9 now and is a joy to be around. My husband is a wonderful, hardworking man and dedicated father. My 89 year old father lives with us now that his memory is slipping away. was in High School and who I am now, both a lot and a very little have changed. Physically, I am older, more tired and it shows. Emotionally, I am more satisfied, confident and calmer than I once was. I've also learned that kindness doesn't have to equal weakness. The respect of others means more to me now than their approval. (Do you suppose that is why I own cats as opposed to dogs?) Lastly, I've learned that the past only has as much importance and influence on one's future as it is allowed to have - Kinda scary, huh? To quote one of my favorite websites, "Thoughts become things...choose the good ones."
