Deborah's Story
Life
In the past few years I have switched my career focus from art and music to health care. I graduated from the Muscular Therapy Institute in 2005, but have still not set up a professional practice as my day job and single-parenting my 5 year old keep me pretty busy. In January 2006 I left my position as manager of the MA/RI Regional Center for Poison Control and Prevention to come to Washington, DC and work as the Member Services Coordinator at the American Association of Poison Control Centers. Somehow, throughout my career to date I have managed to become both unwitting management and a database geek. In my next career move I will bite the bullet and go all the way, either as an Executive Director of a not-for-profit or a certified DBA, the money from which I would use to fund my grand ambitions for developing educational reforms related to an integrated longitudinal curriculum for peace and conflict resolution. In the meantime, I enjoy my job, my friends and family, my boyfriend (also a writer and IT geek) and myself in whatever way possible, including writing, making music, painting and spending as much time as I can communing with nature.
