Chris's Story

Workplace I left Oregon in 1981 to take a job in New Orleans as a Paramedic with the N.O.P.D. Unusual but the Police Department ran all of the Advanced Life Support Paramedic Units in the city at that time. After a year I was sent to the Police Academy and was assigned to the 6th Police District which handled all the public housing projects in the uptown area of the city as well as some of the more famous antebellum masions in the Garden District. I did some time in the Special Operations Division, 1st Police District near the French Quarter, and some mounted horse work. I did my final assignment in the District Attorney's Office as a detective in the Rape and Child Abuse Division. I left the job in 1989 to take an Operations Supervisor position for a local private ambulance provide...Expand for more
r. 5 years later I was hired as a Firefighter/Paramedic with St. Tammany Fire District 4 just north of New Orleans. In 1994 we developed and currently operate the only fire service based Emergency Medical Service in south Louisiana. Today I am a Captain with the department and work both EMS and fire related incidents. Looking forward to retirement in about 3 years. On the side I own two companies. I have an antiques business which specializes in china crystal and silver. We travel around to auctions, estate sales etc and look for these types of items. We sell them on ebay as well as at antique shows in the area. Started doing this as a hobby, kind of on the opposite end of the scale from my career path. It developed into a passion and has been a very enjoyable ongoing treasure hunt.
